Our     Church     History

And    Our      History    Continues...

In April 1954, a group of Sedona Christian Science students and their friends met in private homes to learn more about the healing power of the Christ and to worship God.

In 1958, the Christian Science Society, Sedona, was organized. On February 28, 1958, the Society was recognized as a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston, Massachusetts. The Society was incorporated under the laws of the State of Arizona on January 30, 1959.

 On October 19, 1959, these early members broke ground was broken for a suitable building for church services and Sunday School.  On Sunday, June 5, 1960, doors of the new edifice were opened to the public.

And our church continues today!

"Be   Thou ,   O   God,    Exalted     High;
And   as   thy   Glory   Fills   the   sky,
so   let   it   be   on   Earth   displayed,
till  thou   art   here   and   now   obeyed."
--Isaac Watts,   "Communion     Doxology,"    Hymn   1
Words   adapted   by   Tate   and   Brady
